As I recall Mairead wrote in one of her bloggs that she use to warm up violins before they were sold. The owner of her present violin decided to give it to her. I think perhaps he saw that Mairead and the violin were matched for each other. I think a fine instrument takes on the personality and soul of whoever builds it and then plays it. If it is not taken care of and played by someone who loves music it just deteriorates. Like a caged wild bird losing its plumage.
