OK, Fiddleheads, here you go:

    As some of you may have guessed, my 17th Century Matthias Albani violin is practically a piece of me! I've always been on the lookout for an instrument that would be able to 'share' some of the playing with Matthias.
I recently visited a fantastic violin shop in Long Island where I played several European made violins. My goal was to find a violin with a sound as similar to mine as possible, that I would feel comfortable & proud to play. I’ve narrowed it down to two amazing violins that I will be using during my upcoming recording & videoing of HIBERNIA in Ireland this August.
I am so excited to let you know that you too will be able to purchase these incredible European instruments & also the same in electric violins later this summer as part of my own violin/fiddle line called Celtic Violins by Máiréad Nesbitt Celtic Violinist.
More details soon!

I saw her post but failed to see that it was going to be something she's created. Very cool.

So far, Mairead's violin line will have 2 lines:
  • Hibernia
  • Celtic Dawn

I can't remember if any details about the distinctions between those two lines have been released yet.

BTW, the first two autographed violins she had on her Pledge page sold quickly.

So I heard. I didn't track what happened to the following batch, but I imagine they also got gobbled up in a hurry. What an amazing piece that would be to own. I don't play violin at all so I made a point of steering clear and leaving the violins for those who would appreciate them the most.

According to Mairead's Christmas newsletter, the violin line should be available around spring of 2017!

Mairead unveiled the models of violins in her line today!

The violins Mairead chose for her line reflect the warm, sweet tone she prefers.

Here's some videos of Mairead explaining the violin models and also the bows she's using with each model.

Introduction to the Máiréad Nesbitt Celtic Violin Collection
* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mp98majEQ0Q

The Butterfly
* Student model.
* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vg2_nc3UGM

Invasion
* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGEAloQNmGs

Raining Up
* It has a warm, mellow tone, almost like a viola.
* Good for slow and fast-paced songs.
* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEm9wYy1PAU

Hibernia
* One of the premium violins.
* This one is handcrafted.
* It has a sweet and powerful sound and looks gorgeous!
* The bow she's using with it is similar to one of the bows she uses herself.
* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH3f8fCfsns

Celtic Dawn
* A high-end / premium model.
* She finds it very similar to her own violin.
* It has a warm, sweet tone.
* Good for slow and fast-paced songs.
* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6xUxjwHHFI

Now you can play like Mairead plays!

... or at least play violins like the ones Mairead plays Wink

I'm excited and I don't even play violin! Lol!

I do think it would be pretty funny though for me to attempt to play The Butterfly with a Butterfly, twirling my clumsy self about the room, kicking and toppling things over excitedly.

It sounds like Mairead's violin line keeps on expanding its reach, becoming available in more and more violin shops.

The well-established brands are no doubt stiff competition. Celtic Woman fans make up a small part of the overall market for violins, so for now, she's still operating in a niche market of sorts. I really hope this is a big success for her. She put her heart and soul into designing these exceptional violins and their accessories. <3

Yes indeed, Tom. That is why it is up to us to help promote her line of violins and her music. She counts on her avid fans to spread the word.

Here's some info on the new Máiréad Nesbitt Viennese Elite Model violin from her line:

It's a Master Art copy of her pedigree Mathias Albani Violin!
