Hello everyone! Glenn posted in his Orlagh show review from Irvine that the portrait of her that he drew is now a raffle item. She signed the drawing and authorized us to raffle it with funds going to ALS. As most of you know, Kelli Johnsen has that disease and has been courageously battling it for a couple of years now. We want to maximize the funds for this so will give it plenty of time. Chances for this drawing are $25 per try. we'll give this until opening night of the CW spring tour. It is possible we may extend it. I am asking Mike to take charge of gathering the funds and making the donation since he has a far better chance of seeing Orlagh as well as Kelli and Zee next year than I do. If Mike is in agreement he can give you his contact and payment information. He will also post a photo of the drawing here. I'll be taking care of the PR on this in the various forum sites.

You can also pay me at either the Pittsburgh or Buffalo Christmas shows.  Lets see if we can do as good a job for Orla and ALS as we have done for Máiréad and Oxfam.

Thanks again Mike. & thanks everyone to everyone for the compliments. But I got my hug from Orla.  Odo's Bucket  And I've been floating on air, ever since.
So, doing something like this for her charity, is more than a pleasure. Now I get compliments too.  Odo's Bucket
Jeeeze you guys. O.k., o.k., Now... On with the important stuff.
Call everyone you know. Let's do what we can, to at the very least, put a dent in this very nasty disease.
Thanks again, to everyone. I love doing this stuff.
In a way, we are all doing what we can, to make this world we all live in, just a little bit better a place to be.

The raffle drawing was held on Easter Sunday for Glenn's gorgeous Orla portrait and a winner was chosen at random.  I allowed Kelli and Zee to make the announcement on Orla's Garden and on Facebook before posting it here.  I'll add my thanks to theirs for all of the contributions and especially to Glenn for sharing his talent.  Without further ado here is their announcement:

Quote
We are pleased to announce that a member of our Garden has won the signed portrait of Orla in the raffle. The drawing was held over the weekend by Michael Brown of the Mairead Forum. The winner has requested that they remain anonymous and we will honor their wish here. But, we extend our congratulations to this member and thank them for contributing to the raffle. A total of $1,525.00 was raised and will be donated to the ALS Association.

We wish to thank all of our members who participated in the raffle. Your contributions are going to a charity near and dear to Orla.

In addition, we wish to thank the artist, Glenn Skinner, for his beautiful portrait of Orla. We saw the portrait up close and personal in Irvine, CA when Glenn presented it to Orla. It truly is a wonderful likeness and we are glad that it has found a good home. Thank you, Glenn!

We would also like to acknowledge the folks over at the Mairead Forum who organized the raffle. In particular, a big thank you to Michael Brown who kept track of the raffle tickets. You guys rock!!

Finally, a huge thank you to the inspiration for the portrait, Orla. It was her wish that the portrait be chanced off and the proceeds given to the ALS Association. Orla – WE LOVE YOU!!!!

For those of you who may not be aware, Orla will be touring Holland in December 2012. You can check out her website for exact dates and locations. Holland will be THE place to be this December!!!

Again, we congratulate the raffle winner and thank all those who contributed to making the raffle such a success.

That's wonderful! Nice chunk of change raised for a worthy cause! Glenn is amazing and so is Orla! Our best wishes and thanks to Kelli and Zee for all of their efforts to bring awareness. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Kelli as she battles this disease. Congrats to the winner.

Many thanks to Glenn for creating this wonderful item which has produced this money for a most worthy cause: ALS.  Many thanks also to Mike and Scott for promoting it, without whose publicity efforts this amount could not have been raised!

I'm sure the winner will enjoy permanently displaying this portrait of Orlagh in their home--I know I would!   Shocked Cool
