I would like to bring up a suggestion for an AlexFest for the summer. I only have Philly and ALB left but maybe someone can plan one for a show that already has a big turn out. I think it would really be nice to close out the SFTH tour with one more AlexFest and it gives us a way to say goodbye. I would love to attend one but know that cannot happen. I will lend my support anyway I can though. Everyone can wear their Alex shirts and buttons and make some more Alexfest signs. Anyone like the idea and wish to see it through? Any west coast shows having a large turnout?

I will be frank - I'm not really for this idea.  I understand that many of the fans are still adjusting to this change, but I do not think it would be appropriate to have an AlexFest (which I presume entails signs and displays) when Alex is no longer in the show.  There are many ways to express your support of Alex... a couple fans have continued wearing their buttons, for example, or you can still send letters to Alex via Celtic Woman Ltd's office.  Discussions at M&G seems to brush the topic as well.

It just seems to me that doing a Fest like that, while endearing to a degree, is somewhat disrespectful to the current artists.  I consider this similar to if someone made a large display about Hayley, or Órla, or any of the other former members.

Admittedly, I could be wrong.  Some here who have done M&G and met the ladies and crew would have a better gauge of reaction than I.  On principle though, it doesn't sit right with me.  I just ask that you consider that possibility if you decide to proceed.  Thank you.

Thank you for your comment BF. The reason I think this is a good idea is because this is still part of SFTH tour. I agree that if this is a new tour than it may not be appropriate to honor Alex at a show. But this is a continuance of the tour that she was part of. I know it was hard to leave all her fans for the moment and this would just be our way of saying thank you for all she has given to us.

As I thought about it, the signs may not be the best idea, but wearing her shirts and buttons to show we are still thinking about her would be great. Several fans have worn their buttons, myself included, and we all have received positive comments from the ladies at the M&G. At my M&G, Máiréad and Lynn both spoke of my Alex button and thanked me for wearing it.

Someone mentioned on another forum about recognizing all five ladies at Red Rock. That sounds like a great idea. Though Alex is not part of CW today, she is part of the SFTH tour so that sounds like a great idea. That way all five women will know that we love them and appreciate all they have done for us.

I tend to agree with both of you Rick and BF. I know that makes no sense but  you present such strong arguements they both seem proper. Its a tough one to figure.
I wore my Alex button to the shows, but I just did it for my own satisfaction. I was thinking more of the fans than the girls at the time.
I asked Lisa if I could be certain that the gift I gave them for Alex would get to her, she said she make sure of it. It looks as if they are in contact with Alex from what I could tell.
I think that BF has a very good point though Rick.

I think a true "Fest" is not really applicable; signs and banners would be out of place.  But I think it would be great to say goodbye to all five, even if one of them is not there in person.  Maybe it would help provide closure for some of us.

Here's an idea that I had.  It goes firmly in the "It sure would be nice if..." category but if you're reading this, David, please give it some consideration.  Wouldn't it wonderful if Alex would return for the last show in Red Rocks?  We know that she loves it there.  CW could go back to the original arrangements and lighting for that one show.  And if Alex was at the M&G we could all say a proper goodbye to her.  It might help those of us who miss her so much.  None of us who met her in the Spring knew she was leaving and we assumed that we would get to see her again.  Closure is part of the healing process and this might be a way to provide that.  I would pay almost anything to hear her sing My Heart Was Home Again one more time.  And what better place to do that than at the fabulous Red Rocks Amphitheater.

I think Red Rocks is a perfect place for even a mildly symbolic goodbye. We can all wear Alex forum buttons in addition to the others. The meet and greet is 100% forum people so will be very special anyway. As for David bringing her back for one more show, unlikely but a nice thought. I for one am hoping for another appearance by the green bow!!

I am glad that the ideas for an Alex Fest have been toned down.  I agree with Bluefire that it could have possibly seemed disrespectful.  The four girls have had to almost totally revamp their total program to deal with Alex's personal decision not to continue with the tour, which I am sure was not taken lightly.  I agree that closure does help but in this case we all will have to deal with this individually. I have found that the DVD has helped me as a good memory of Alex.

Red Rocks would be a great place to do something like that. It would be nice to see her return for a one time show and it would really be the ultimate way to close out the tour. I noticed last night that some fans are still supporting their Alex items, myself included, and I heard her name mentioned a few times last night by fans. Even at a small scale, it is nice to finish this tour out with Alex in memory.

We also had a bump in the Alex forum too as more folks continue to join. Even the simple gesture of wearing an Alex button at the shows is a nice touch and the other girls appreciate seeing that. It tells them that they too will be well supported when they return to solo work at some point in the future. Yes indeed, we're not going anywhere.
